Calendar: 05/10: Altavia Baronial Anniversary and Investiture of the New Baron and Baroness
A Touch of Argent... The Barony of Altavia bids you welcome and Well-met! Our Silver Anniversary approaches, set for Saturday, May 10, 2008, and the Investiture of the new Baron and Baroness is an opportunity to honor the shiny and new, our outgoing Baron and Baroness, and the glittering history of our fair barony. On hand to help celebrate will be the complete lineage of former Altavian Barons and Baronesses! The theme of the day is the lustre of Argent, so shine up your buckles, polish your armor, and bring out your most glittering Arts and Sciences projects! The theme for the A&S competition will revolve around the heraldry of their Nextellencies, THL Thorin and THL Courtney and of our Barony (available on the Altavia website www.sca-altavia.org/B&B/History.html). A bardic competition ("Ode to Argent") will determine the Bard of Altavia! A competition for a themed lunch basket will be held, with the lunch baskets to be sold at silent auction. Each basket should include lunch for two including serving gear and beverages. Be creative! There will be an Argent Rose Challenge for all Heavies, Rapier and Youth Combatants. Challenge other fighters to win honor (and a white rose!) for your lord or lady-fair. "A No Dairy? No Whey!" dessert competition will be held! Be sure to Include a list of ingredients with your entry. Remember -- read the ingredients of your ingredients! Whey is a crafty little creature, found in many things. The goal is to keep it out! Her Nextellency is allergic! Remember, at all events leading up to Anniversary, Death Certificates will be available to determine the "method of demise" for Baron Laertes and Baroness Bridget! Be creative! Be clever! Be devious!
